Why i Want To Be a Nurse Essays 1 - 30 Anti Essays

Finally, the third influence is my personal experience with health issues. Most people who know me probably think this is the number one reason of why I want to be a nurse, but while it is one of the influences, it is not the main one. I had Desmoid tumors, which are NOT cancerous. They are just aggressive and like to get in the way. I have had two of them removed and 39 treatments of Proton Radiation Therapy. Proton Therapy is one of the safer forms of radiation that can be used to pinpoint a specific area and not harm anything surrounding that area. Through this experience, I have witnessed and befriended so many people who have stayed positive through these horrible satiations. I want to help people like them to get through it more easily. Also, my nurses, doctors, and radiation therapist were another reason I could make it through with a smile on my face and positive attitude. They were always trying to keep me laughing and make my surgeries and treatments as painless and comfortable as possible, which is what I want to do in return for someone else.

The second influence would be my dad. When I was six, my dad was diagnosed with cancer, which I didn’t fully understand at the time. But, I knew he was very sick and needed to get better. I spent a lot of time with my dad while he fought the horrible, monstrous disease that is cancer. Like my aunt, he responded to this tough time with a smile and a stronger sense of humor than ever before. As I watched both my dad and aunt go through these ordeals, I also observed the nurses and what they did. For some reason, I was intrigued by them and just wanted to help people get better like they helped my loved ones.

My whole life, I watched her battle this disease and the complications that came with it and never once did I ever hear her complain. I respect her greatly for that and everything else she handled with a huge smile on her face. Since she had to see so many doctors and be in the hospital on and off, I got to witness the workings of a hospital from a young age. I always enjoyed seeing how the nurses helped my aunt feel better and do anything in their power to make her visit as pleasant as possible. My aunt always loved her nurses, and that’s one reason I want to be a nurse. I want to be able to comfort patients like my aunt’s nurses did all the way up until she passed away.

The average college student probably is asked at least once on a daily basis what they are studying. Then they are asked why they chose that field of study. I am asked this constantly and my usual answer is I want to be a nurse because I want to help people. The more I get asked this, I contemplate what made me choose this career path. I look at previous situations that took place in my upbringing and how they influenced my decisions. There are three major influences that have made me decide to become a nurse.

Why I Want To Be A Nurse Essay - …

Do you feel like being a nurse is completely different than being an NP? I really dislike nursing right now but from what I have seen shadowing Nurse Practitioners they do function very differently. I just don't know what to expect and do not want to start a graduate program if they really are similar because then it is definitely not the field for me. Second, would you say it is important to have nursing experience prior to enrolling in an NP program? Since there are bridge programs out there, and considering I was just accepted to an amazing NP program with only having clinical experience from my undergrad, I was wondering if you think it is highly beneficial or not. I hope to hear from you soon!
